The Curiosity Paradigm

Curiosity drives us as scientists. The process of eliminating uncertainty from our understanding of the world has been systematized, standardized, and organized. We are comfortable within the familiarity of our individual disciplines, skilled in asking questions and uncovering answers that add to and refine our knowledge of our planet’s workings. However, we are now at a pivotal moment in both the history of science and human life on Earth. Despite our conversance with the scientific method and its application to our own work, the challenges we face today are of greater consequence than at any other time in history. We are uniquely positioned to build critical bridges between scientific disciplines, engage with the public, and unlock our own ability to use data in ways that will shape the future, not of scientific research alone, but of our very planet. The paradigm shift is underway. Now is the time to embrace it.
